Fabric, NeoForge and Paper
Players need the mod. The server needs the mod or the plugin. Which loader each side uses does not matter.
Who sees what#
| Server | Fabric player | NeoForge player | Player without the mod |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fabric with the mod | Everything | Everything | Joins fine, sees the plain game |
| NeoForge with the mod | Everything | Everything | Joins fine, sees the plain game |
| Paper with the plugin | Everything flying items without glint | Everything flying items without glint | Joins fine, sees the plain game |
| Any server without Busy Bodies | Sleep guesses only | Sleep guesses only | The plain game |
How the server knows#
A game with the mod announces the Busy Bodies channels when it joins. The server only ever sends to players who did, so a player without the mod never receives a single Busy Bodies packet.
What the server does#
It passes each player's status on to the others, at a capped rate. Players close by get the full detail; everyone else gets just enough for the tab list and the typing line. It checks everything a player sends before passing it on.
The Paper plugin#
Busy Bodies for Paper does the same job as the mod's server half, with the same settings file and the same /busybodies command. It runs on Paper and its forks. It does not need any mod on the server and does not change the world.
