Server settings
One small file, one command. The same settings on Fabric, NeoForge and Paper.
Where the file is#
| Server | File |
|---|---|
| Fabric, NeoForge | config/busybodies-server.json |
| Paper | plugins/BusyBodies/busybodies-server.json |
It is written on the first start with the values below. Server settings are sent to every player with the mod and always win over their own.
Every setting#
| Setting | Starts as | What it does | Takes |
|---|---|---|---|
sleepAfterSeconds | 300 | Seconds of standing still before a player falls asleep. | 5 to 86400 |
detailDistance | 10 | How close, in blocks, a player must be to get the cursor, clicks, live pictures and flying items. | 1 to 128 |
maxUpdatesPerSecond | 10 | The most status updates relayed per player each second. | 1 to 20 |
allowCursor | true | Pass on mouse positions and clicks. | true or false |
allowItems | true | Pass on flying items. | true or false |
allowScreen | true | Pass on live pictures of open screens. | true or false |
screenOnChangeOnly | true | Send a new picture only when the screen changes or the player clicks, not all the time. | true or false |
screenRateTicks | 10 | The shortest gap between two pictures, in game ticks (20 a second). | 2 to 200 |
screenBlur | 1 | How much pictures are blurred: 0 not at all, 1 softly, 2 strongly. | 0 to 2 |
screenCrop | "circle" | Which part of the screen is copied: a round area around the menu, just the menu, or the whole screen. | "circle", "menu" or "full" |
screenRadius | 112 | Size of that round area, in GUI pixels. | 16 to 1024 |
hideBackground | true | Leave the world behind the menu out of the picture. | true or false |
idleChatNotice | false | Say "dozed off" and "is back" in chat. | true or false |
forceOff | [] | Things switched off for everyone, whatever their own settings say. | a list of names, see below |
forceOff names#
Put any of these in forceOff to switch that part off for everyone:
| Name | Switches off |
|---|---|
glyphs | Icons over heads |
typing | The typing text bar |
typingPoses | Typing arms |
menuPoses | Arms reaching for a panel |
idlePoses | Glancing, nodding and sleeping poses |
panel | The floating panel |
screen | Live pictures on the panel |
items | Flying items |
tabIcons | Tab list icons |
chatLine | The typing line above chat |
sounds | All sounds |
openSounds | Menu opening sounds |
clickSounds | Click sounds |
Commands#
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/busybodies config | Shows the current settings. |
/busybodies config <setting> <value> | Changes one setting at once, for everyone, and saves it. Text needs quotes, lists need square brackets. |
/busybodies reload | Rereads the file after you edited it by hand. |
These are for operators. On Paper the permission is busybodies.admin.
/busybodies config sleepAfterSeconds 120
/busybodies config screenCrop "menu"
/busybodies config forceOff ["screen", "sounds"]
How heavy is it?#
Light. Status updates are a few bytes and capped per player. Live pictures are small JPEGs of at most 128 pixels, sent only when a screen changes, and only to players standing close. A 15-minute soak test with a player typing, clicking and pausing on a loop held memory flat.
On Paper, flying items show as the plain item: an enchanted sword flies without its glint. Everything else works the same as on a modded server.
